Could You Qualify for a Free IEE?

Take this 4-question quiz to find out if your child qualifies for a no-cost Independent Educational Evaluation.

Our Process

Step 1: CONSULTATION

Your child’s history and your concerns are discussed to determine if an IEE would be a good fit.

Step 2: SCHOOL REQUEST

A formal request is sent to the district stating you disagree with the school’s evaluation and want an IEE.

Step 3: INDIRECT ASSESSMENT

Once approved, the independent evaluator collects data via surveys, interviews, and review of records.

Step 4: DIRECT ASSESSMENT

The independent evaluator then conducts a series of tailored tests with your child addressing your specific concerns.

Step 5: REPORT PREPARED

A comprehensive report is prepared and a meeting is scheduled to review the testing results.

Step 6: FINDINGS DISCUSSED

The team meets to collaboratively design an educational support plan based on findings of independent testing.

Frequently Asked Questions

If you feel your child has challenges in the areas of pronunciation, comprehension, expression, or social skills that haven’t been identified or supported at school, a Speech IEE can provide a clearer picture of their needs and ideal supports.
Costs for an IEE vary, but in most cases, school districts are required to cover the cost if the IEE is requested in response to a disagreement with the school’s evaluation.
Unlike school-based staff who typically have large caseloads and limited time and resources, the independent assessor can dedicate more attention to fully understanding your child’s speech-language needs and providing a thorough, objective assessment.
We assess articulation, receptive and expressive language, narrative skills, social pragmatics, and fluency to identify communication challenges.
Typically, the process takes several weeks from the initial consultation to the final report, depending on your child’s needs and scheduling.
No, but we may be expanding soon to include full-service assessments in other areas.
You’ll receive a detailed report and attend a meeting with the IEP team. Independent findings and recommendations will be used to advocate for necessary services and supports.
No. While the school is not obligated to agree with or implement every recommendation from the IEE, they must review and take the evaluation into account when developing or modifying the child’s IEP.
